About Us

Wem Town Hall is an exemplar community arts regeneration centre in Shropshire.  Operated by the Charity Wem Town Hall Community Trust (WTHCT, Charity Number: 1113075) whose aims are to: provide facilities for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town of Wem and the surrounding area in relation to (i) the advancement of the education of the public in the arts (ii) the advancement of education and training generally and (iii) recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interest of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the public at large.

To deliver on our purposes and aims WTHCT facilitates social enterprise, community empowerment and community cohesion through an accessible, user-friendly and high quality venue and programme.

Visitors can participate in events and opportunities in film, music, theatre and dance or pop in for coffee with friends or catch the latest exhibition.

We have pledged to meet the Family Arts Standards, a UK-wide recognised
quality-mark demonstrating excellence in family provision.  Look out for the logo on our family friendly events.

WTH is a key partner in working towards making Wem a dementia friendly town.  We offer a dedicated films programme and community singing sessions supported by volunteers so that carers and those living with dementia can enjoy these activities together in a safe supported environment.

Our friendly reception team who have access to local information and will always do their best to help with any enquiry; from What’s On, to B&B’s and bus timetables.

Throughout the year we host a wide variety of events. These range from meetings and conferences to civic functions and large scale celebratory events. Hiring WTH assures you of first class service whilst supporting a community enterprise.
