WTH Community Trust

The trustees of Wem Town Hall Community Trust have worked hard, since 2006 to bring Wem Town Hall back into community use. Between them, they have a wide range of experience, expertise and interests, reflecting the diversity of the local community.

The Trust worked closely with Thomas Adams School to re-open the building, now that Thomas Adams are no longer in the building, the Trust continue to work with the staff and volunteers on all aspects of day to day operation. They contribute to the management and running of the building in a range of ways; overseeing policy and programme development, recruitment, fund raising, finance, marketing, box office and stewarding.

Sue Yates (Chair of the Trust) – Sue has been involved from the early days. She has worked in advertising and education and been part of the Wem community for the last 29 years.

Roy Reeves (Treasurer to the Trust and member of the Finance Group) – Roy is a retired Chartered Accountant, having spent in excess last thirty years in practise advising small and medium sized businesses.  He has lived in Wem since 1981.  His financial expertise is greatly valued.

Roy Stokes (Secretary to the Trust and member of Finance group) – Roy is a retired architect and director of a large international architectural practice with experience in the public and private sector.  He managed regional offices in Birmingham and Bahrain.  He has a particular interest in personnel matters.

Liz Mayer – Liz has been involved from the very beginning when a steering group was formed to try to save Wem Town Hall for community use.  She is actively involved in fund raising, is a regular volunteer and provides the Trust with an abundance of local knowledge.

Peter Jones (Finance Group) – Peter has also been involved from the early days.  He is retired from working in the retail section serving the local agricultural community and as such has very useful local contacts.  He devotes a substantial amount of time to Wem Town Hall volunteering and focuses on the Business Friends Memberships.

Mandy Meakin – Is a member of Wem Town Council and as such provides an essential link with one of our main partners

Rosemary Dodd –  Is a Wem Town Council representative Trustee.  Rosemary has lived in Wem for fifty years, involved in various organisations, worked in administration and finance and has a passion for education and the arts.

John Dinsdale (Finance Group) – John has recently moved into the area after retiring from a career in purchasing and logistics. He is very keen to get involved in the work of Wem Town Hall with a particular interest in strengthening ties with local businesses and community groups.

Allan Brown – Allan has recently joined the Trust after many years of volunteering at Wem Town Hall.
