Did you know that WTH is a charity that relies on the dedication of over 50 volunteers to run?

During National Volunteer’s Week we’d like to take this opportunity to offer a heartfelt THANK YOU to our dedicated volunteers, who devote a massive 132 hours of their time every week to Wem Town Hall! Their contribution and support helps us to make a community facility that everyone can be proud of.

Ever wondered what our volunteers do? Our volunteers help serve in our café, answer phone enquiries, sell tickets, distribute our brochure, usher at events and much, much more! Our hard working volunteers set up the market ready for Thursday’s weekly market and assemble and disassemble our cinema rake for events. The person helping you to your seat and takes your ticket has donated their time and the volunteer projecting our films works tirelessly to ensure that you have the best viewing experience.

I volunteer because…

“Volunteering has given me the opportunity, not only to give something back to the community, but also to experience a wide variety of productions. These include cinema, live theatre and opera screenings, and live music to name a few. Without volunteers these things would not happen and a vital part of Wem would be lost.” Liz – WTH Volunteer

“Volunteering has been a positive experience at WTH. I have met lots of lovely people who have always made me feel welcome and part of a team.” Alison – WTH Volunteer

“It’s been a great way of getting to know people and become involved in the community & social life of my new town. I do a variety of duties; reception, box office and usher and enjoy all of them; the managers, staff and fellow volunteers are friendly and easy to work alongside. Wem Town Hall is a great asset to our town and we are fortunate to have such a variety of activities, films, concerts & theatre right on our doorstep; I’m very pleased to do my ‘bit’ to support it.” Jill – WTH Volunteer

“I am a mum with 2 children at primary school and am able to fit the hours with the school days. It’s a good opportunity to get back into “work mode”, learn some new skills and meet new people.” Valerie – WTH Volunteer
