The Metropolitan Opera: Tosca *CANCELED*

Saturday April 11th, 2020 - 5.55pm
Duration: Approx 3 hours

We can announce that sadly the remainder of the Met Opera 2019/20 season will not be going ahead.

Met General Manager Peter Gelb said, “As devastating as it is to have to close the Met, this was the rare instance where the show simply couldn’t go on. We send our thanks to our loyal audiences and we’re doing our best to support our employees during this extraordinarily difficult time. We look forward to being reunited in the fall with a new season.”

Superstar soprano Anna Netrebko returns in the title role as the explosive diva in Puccini’s best-loved operatic thriller.

Based in Rome during the Napoleonic wars, this tragic tale of passion, murder, lust and love, all set against a famously romantic score.

Bertrand de Billy conducts Sir David McVicar’s evocative production, with tenor Brian Jagde as Tosca’s impassioned lover, Cavaradossi, and baritone Michael Volle as the sinister Scarpia.
