The trustees of Wem Town Hall Community Trust have worked hard, since 2006 to bring Wem Town Hall back into community use. Between them, they have a wide range of experience, expertise and interests, reflecting the diversity of the local community.
The Trust worked closely with Thomas Adams School to re-open the building, now that Thomas Adams are no longer in the building, the Trust continue to work with the staff and volunteers on all aspects of day to day operation. They contribute to the management and running of the building in a range of ways; overseeing policy and programme development, recruitment, fund raising, finance, marketing, box office and stewarding.
Rod Owens (Chairman of Trustees) (Finance Group) – has been involved from the early stages. Before his retirement he was the Head of Legal and Administrative Services with the local District Council and his legal and local authority background is an asset to the Trust.
Sue Yates – (Secretary to the Trust and member of Finance group) Sue has been involved from the early days. She has worked in advertising and education and been part of the Wem community for the last 27 years.
Roy Reeves (Finance Group) – Roy is a Chartered Accountant and has spent the last thirty years in practise advising small and medium sized businesses. He has lived in Wem since 1981. His financial expertise is greatly valued.
Roy Stokes (Finance Group) – Roy is a retired architect and director of a large international architectural practice with experience in the public and private sector. He managed regional offices in Birmingham and Bahrain. He has a particular interest in personnel matters.
Liz Mayer – Liz has been involved from the very beginning when a steering group was formed to try to save Wem Town Hall for community use. She is actively involved in fund raising, is a regular volunteer and provides the Trust with an abundance of local knowledge.
Peter Jones – Peter has also been involved from the early days. He is currently working in the retail section serving the local agricultural community and as such has very useful local contacts.. He plans to retire shortly and will be able to devote more time to Wem Town Hall
Mandy Meakin – Is a member of Wem Town Council and as such provides an essential link with one of our main partners
